When set out to create this coaching program for our Musq users it was always important to us that it was an extension of our values; clean skin, clean thoughts and clean living…

 

We believe true beauty comes from within. True beauty comes from being a beautiful person. No matter how beautiful we are, with age appearances fade. Some of us are more attractive than others and as they say ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder…’

 

When we meet a person who is kind, caring and empathetic. Someone who is happy, confident and healthy. Someone who takes an interest in others, someone who cares for those less fortunate, someone who makes us feel special, someone who whose character shines through, will always be beautiful in the eyes of the world no matter outer appearances.

 

Beauty sells products yes… but we wanted to offer you more than an amazing range of products. We wanted you to feel that we care about you, about the environment and about the state of the world, because we do.

 

Clean Skin represents clean living, health and happiness. Clean Thoughts represent awareness, conscious decision making and mental & emotional health. Clean Living represents making healthy living choices that supports our health & wellbeing and that of the environment, the planet and other humans. Including plants and smaller creatures that depend on us caring for them, and the world we live in, for their survival.

 

To us this is true beauty, beauty of the human soul. If we help to create individual awareness, increase consciousness and educate our audience then perhaps slowly, slowly we will build a community of likeminded people that care about each other and the world.

We can’t change everything at once but we can change everything, one person at a time.

 

As a result, this program has been designed to increase self-awareness and make you think about in what ways you can make improvements in your life to create a healthier happier you. Happy people do better and being healthy plays a big part in that.

 

This module will touch on the contrast between health and wellness, as well as what the different dimension of wellness are and how they interact with one another.

Happiness & Health

Health is defined as the overall mental and physical state of a person; the absence of disease.

This isn't entirely the same thing as wellness. Wellness refers to the state of being in optimal mental and physical health, however wellness is more than that.

 

We differentiate between Physical, Mental and Emotional Health & Wellness, though they are all closely connected. We know that physical health & wellness is improved by being physically fit and well. Knowing this gives us the opportunity to reflect on how pro-active we are in creating and maintaining our health and wellbeing.

 

Emotional Wellness means being confident, having strong self-esteem, understand how to build trust, and being able to understand another's feelings. A person who is emotionally well is aware of their feelings and is able to properly cope with them. Emotional wellness also implies a person can deal well with stressful situations.

 

If we are physically unwell or impaired it has the power to impact our mental and emotional health. It’s also a well-known factor that if we are emotionally stressed or depressed or affected negatively in other ways, it often manifest in physical illness as well, headaches, gut problems and aches and pains.

 

To ensure we optimise our health and wellbeing there are critical areas of SKILL that strongly affect our all over health/wellness and fulfilment in life.

 

Continuous Cognitive Development is one of these areas and it refers to the construction of thought processes, including remembering, problem solving, and decision-making, from childhood through adolescence to adulthood. Having good cognitive ability includes critical thinking skills, being curious, and always learning new things. Developing good thinking skills is critical not only to help a person grow in school and do better at work, but it actually prevents the onset of disease. It's been shown that people who regularly learn new things and challenge their mind can stave off many mental health problems.

 

 

Then there’re also the all-important Interpersonal Skills that we need to build healthy relationships. We are 'pack animals,' so to speak, we depend on one another to survive and live well. To do so we need effective communication skills and he ability to set clear boundaries with family and friends. Interpersonal relationships are very important in order to maintain a good emotional and physical state of being.

 

There is also Spiritual aspect that some refer to as spiritual wellness. Spiritual wellness doesn't automatically imply the need for religion in a person's life. These same things can just as easily be developed and found through things like nature, meditation, volunteer work. Spiritual wellness refer to the ability to develop compassion, practicing forgiveness, being caring and having a sense of purpose and meaning in life.

 

A very big part of maintaining health and wellness is autonomy, having the ability to choose what we do or don’t want to do. When our life choices are driven by the desire to create and maintain health and wellness, eliminating or diminishing factors that increase the risk of affecting our health negatively, we feel empowered and more in control. When we blame others or circumstances for how we feel or for our circumstances, we feel disempowered, we feel like victims. When we practice personal responsibility and and are accountable for our action and behaviours we take proactive steps that improve one's entire well-being and happiness. This program has been designed for you to reflect on who you are, what you stand for, who you want to be or need to be to accomplish your goals. By asking you questions and giving you the opportunity to create a way forward you should get a sense of accomplishment, you should feel you’re taking back some control of your health and wellbeing, taking steps to live a more meaningful life.

 

One way of doing this practicing Observing. I ask that you slow down and get into the habit of observing;

 

  • Your thoughts
  • Your actions
  • Your behaviours
  • Your feelings
  • Your health/wellbeing
  • Your relationships
  • Your overall outcomes in life…

Ask yourself if what is happening is serving your highest self?

Is what you are thinking, saying, doing getting you the results you want?

Are your relationships supporting you, empowering you and helping you to grow?

 

A good way of doing this is using a notebook or a diary, writing down your thoughts, feelings and emotions. This way you can go back and reflect and perhaps recognise patterns in your thinking and habits that doesn’t support your health, your relationships, your goals etc.
