week 2

Welcome back…

We are so excited to be sharing this transformational Journey with you. Without a doubt for some of you some of this information is new, for others it’s just a refresher.

However, the questions are:

Are you getting the results you want most of the time, or could you do better?

Are you implementing the knowledge and strategies you have consistently enough, to reap the benefits?

Successful people know the importance of being accountable and about practicing personal responsibility. Coaching offers you the opportunity to practice both. It has been proven again and again that people do better with coaching; athletes have known this for years as has business owners and public figures.

This program has been designed so you can implement this in your life, however you need to be honest with yourself, and as your coach isn’t sitting next to you, it is your responsibility to ensure you get the most out of this program. The exercises and questions in this program will encourage you to be mindful of what you think and what you do, to ensure you are more likely to achieve your goals and enjoy a healthier, happier life.

The online questioners have been designed for you to document your progress and to reflect on how you are going.

Anything you want to accomplish successfully has to have a measure. You need to be able to recognise your successes no matter how small, and celebrate on the way. Far too often we don’t give ourselves enough credit as we go along, we keep putting it off until we reach the final goalpost. Which often in life changes and let’s face it, sometimes we just don’t get there at all. Still, most of the time we have improved and learned so much in the process which in itself it’s worth acknowledgment and sometimes this is the reward itself.

There are little wins most days. You made someone smile, someone needed your advice, you walked to the shop instead of taking the car or you cleaned out your garage… Life itself offers us plenty of opportunity to learn, to be grateful and to grow.

Get in the habit of having a notebook or diary by your bedside with a pen and ask yourself each day:

  • What did I learn today?
  • In what way did I improve today?
  • What am I grateful for today?
  • What can I improve on tomorrow?
  • Who did I help today?

I am sure you can think of many more questions.

You may or may not know this, but as long as you continue to make excuses, blame circumstances or events for your life experience you will short change yourself and be a victim of circumstances and events. When you realise that what you feel, isn't necessarily the only perception of reality, then you can take back control of your life experience.

If you don't feel your best - NOW is the time to back yourself and do something about it!!

Remember: The most important Relationship you will ever have is with yourself.

Reflect and ask yourself if you are your best friend, your greatest supporter and check what evidence there is to support your belief in self.

The building blocks to experiencing personal and professional success are knowing how to Build Self-Esteem & Confidence ...Creating a Life Plan & Setting Goals ...Building Better Relationships and Developing Social Skills.

However, developing improved Cognitive Skills, is essential for everything in life. Cognitive skills are the core skills your brain uses to think, read, learn, remember, reason, and pay attention. Working together, they take incoming information and move it into the bank of knowledge you use every day at school, at work, and in life.

We refer to this as being mindful of having a CLEAN MIND, understanding how your mind works and using it effectively. Naturally this program is limited in length and there is so much we would love to share with you, but here are some basics to get you started…

You might have heard the expression “to be guided by your inner compass”, but have you reflected on what does that actually means?

I am sure you know that a compass is an instrument used for navigation and orientation, helping you to know in which direction you are headed or need to head to reach a specific destination.

If you have a map but don’t know in which direction to hold it and how to follow it, you will get lost regardless. In a similar way, your inner compass guides you when you make decisions and choices regarding everything in your life from making friends to buying a car.

Your inner compass is made up of values and belief system you have, that have been systematically installed in your way of thinking since the day you were born.

It is like a software program and it constantly runs in the background or more correctly in your subconscious mind. Until you become aware of it, you can’t really change it, and you can’t really assess if it is helping you achieve what you want or if it is undermining your progress.

We do not have a choice in what this “program” looks like. It is imposed upon us from our parents, culture, religion, upbringing, education and experiences. In this day and age, it is also heavily influenced by media and social media.

These values and beliefs are like filters or coloured lenses in a pair of glasses. Each and every one of us see and experience the world around us and what happens to us through these unique lenses.

Remember this maximum:

The way we see and experience ‘stuff’ is simply a matter of perception.

“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. The way you perceive things is an extremely important tool that will allow you to fully bring the power of intention into your life.”

                   - Wayne Dyer

These pictures demonstrate how different people experience the same thing. They are observing the same thing, still their experience is completely different.

Perception really matters. It affects how you see yourself, in other words self-perception or self- worth. It matters because it affects how other people see you, how they treat you and how you respond depends on your perceptions and this affects your experience and your outcomes.

Your values and belief systems about yourself, other people and the world around you will affect your perceptions of reality. This realisation should encourage you because once you understand this you have the power to adjust your thinking to serve you better. This awareness will enable you to improve your physical, mental and emotional health.

Let’s recap…

  • Values are subconscious mind thought processes
  • Your Personal Values control all that you do in life, whether you know it or not
  • Core values define who you are and how you interact with life & people
  • Values are not right or wrong, however they may or may not serve your best outcomes
  • Personal values are one of the most important hidden factors which control your choices, ambitions, dreams and drive in life.
  • Personal values help your decision making and to focus and align your life choices, there for it is important that you know what they are and that you align them with your thought, actions and behaviours to get the results that you want.

Values are essential because…

  • We are guided by our values to make decisions about priorities in our daily work and personal life.
  • Values are important internal motivators of which we have little knowledge or control over.
  • What we value determines what life means to us and what actions we take.
  • Our goals and life purpose are grounded in our personal values.

When we honour our values, life is good, life is fulfilling. When we don't we experience conflict and emotional dissonance.

There are many ways of exploring one’s values, here is one link we have sourced for you to explore yours.

Clarifying your Core Values and aligning these with your thinking and doing together with using your Strengths to improve your life and achieve your goals, is an immensely powerful tool to create the life you deserve.

However it is equally important to understand your weaknesses and reflect on how these can be overcome by either changing perceptions or using them to understand who you need to become and what you need to learn to be the best you can be.

We have developed the following exercise for you to add to your workbook. By documenting your insights and your journey you can reflect on your progress and make adjustments.

Bon Voyage!!
